Show December 1, 1965 The PARSON Page 4 Coast Guard Reserve Offers Commissions President Featured In Annual Concert The Westminster College Symphony will feature Dr. Fred Arbogast as speaker in Don Gillis Ceremony of Allegiance at the twelfth annual Christmas concert Sunday, December 5 at 3 p.m. in Payne Gymnasium. He will read portions of the US Constitution while the orchestra plays. Following the precedent set last year, the WC Stage Band will be present to play informally before the program begins. Under the direction of Mr. Kenneth the concert will begin with Kuchler, Finlandia in honor of the 100th anniversary of Jean Sibelius and Overturaby campus, the Westminster College Wind Ensemble conducted by Allan Austin will play Chorale and Alleluia by Howard Hanson. A unique addition to the college is the Westminster Recorder Consort and Madrigal Singers, which will present Christmas music as part of the concert. Concluding the program will be the Ceremony of Allegiance and the first movement of the Cesar Franck D minor symphony. A new group on WWW The U. S. Coast Guard is seeking college graduates for its February 1966 class at the Officer Candidate School, Coast Guard Reserve Training Center, Yorktown, Va. Successful candidates will be commissioned as Ensigns in the Coast Guard Reserve upon graduation. They will be required to complete three years on active duty after receiving their commissions. To qualify, the men must be between 21 and 26 years of age and must be college graduates or seniors who will graduate before February 13, 1966. The officer candidates will receive 17 weeks of intensive, highly specialized training in navigation, seamanship, gunnery, warfare damage control, and other subjects. In addition graduates will be eligible for flight training. The newly commissioned ensigns will join the 3,000 Coast Guard officers who in a variety of interesting serve world-wid- e duties.
