Show By Ken Jones Some prospec'ive leaders of the unit were Interviewed by a rigid screening board Monday evening to test their application to attend at-tend the Utah NG Military Academy. Aca-demy. The board consisted of Major Ma-jor Eugene Woolf, president; Capt. David Melville, and Lt. Or-val Or-val Wright, members. Those? interviewed as to their ability and willingness to become be-come commissioned officers In the Utah Natioanl Guard were Pfc. Spencer D. Adams, Paro-wan Paro-wan and Pfc. Thomas J. Jones, Cedar City. The board unanimously voted to forward the applications of these men to the Utah Adjutant General, where final approval and selection of candidates for the academy will be made. Muster Day will be observed in all NG units throughout the state on Feb. 22. This day is held in commemoration of the old state militias, who would meet toge'her once a year with their muskets to make account of available strength and to take a pledge to defend the United States against aggression. Mem-bers Mem-bers of the Cedar City unit will meet on this day and a special open house will be held to grve the generaj public an opportunity opportuni-ty to observe and inspect the unit. Friday evening preceding Mus-ter Mus-ter Day the Military Ball will be held in the CSU ballroom. The dance promises to be the finest in many years and the general public is cordially Invited to attend. at-tend. Rich, adjutant general of the Utah NG, stopped in Cedar City to confer with Mayor Arnold An-derson An-derson and Col. Frank Dalley concerning NG activi'ies in this arei. Gen Rich stepped enroute o Phoenix, Ariz., where he is to make preparations for an adjutant adjut-ant general association convention conven-tion to be held later this year. |
