Biographical sketch of the life of Ia Verne Forbes Allen as written and read by Mrs. Mae Marsh. To us, who knew Sister la Verne and associated with her from child hood until her marriage. It Is diffi cult to image a person so active and full of ambition and energy being overcome by any physical aliment, and her vitality wasting away little by' little uhtii "life finally passed out One seldom meets a person who is naturally gifted along so many lines as was this slater and we like to think of her now as we knew her btot. Her ready wit and humor made her welcome in any crowd and to one Bn trouble she was deeply sympathetic She waa an excellent seamstress and an exceptionally sweet singer. She could entertain at dancing or at the piano; as an actress with our home dramatic company she was perfectly at home; we can, picture her riding swiftly on horseback carrying messages mess-ages to and from her father In the canyon; if. occasion demanded nhe could assist with the work on the farm and In her highest calling, that cf wife and mother, she was not found wanting. Sister Ksther I.a Verne Forbes Allen was .the second y f eleven children of Joseph Arthur and Esther Hamnett Forbes and the first of the family to be- taken from this life. She yas born Feb 25. 1894 in Alpine, Ctah, where she spent her girlhood days and! received her schooling and religious training. She was raised In a family where parents and children chil-dren alike enjoyed each others society socie-ty and where musid-kept the" home fires burning. For two years prior to her mar rtage she was a member of the Forbes' For-bes' Family Rend in which under taking she found a great deal of pleasure. On January 12, 1916 she was mar? rled to Thomas Allen of Vineyard in the Salt liake Temple and she leaves with him four children 3 boys and one girl, .ranging In ages from three veloped into cviMINiTIONS FOR ':' Not Being ...... r to 8 years. For owr two and one half yeais she battled with the disease, Divine aid has been continually sought for lier recovery ami every medical attention known to science has been given her. Financial means have nU been spared for anything that would add to her comfort. While ber physical suffering has been intense and almost indescribable, it can then hardly be compared to her mental anguish when she realized that death a as inevitable and for two years to be deprived of the association anil caresses of her little children and spend so many months away from those she' loved. To all the family and especially her brother in the mission field God alone is the great comforter. The writer of the sketch had the privilege of reading the last letter Sister Allen Wrote to" her par ents under "date-of September-16; IS-25 IS-25 and white it was a personal letter to the family she asked permission to read excerpts from It in the funeral service. President Chlpman In his remarks requested that It be published. publish-ed. While the letter as a whole is very touching it is interspersed with Jokes and humor so characteristic of Sister Allen. It is in part as follows: "I am just as full of ambition ug I ever was and ulways want to be doing something but have had to give up. I've tried so hard In be patient and cheerful and make It as easy for those who have had to tare for me as I could ami remember I still have faith the.sanie as you that I will be healed, if not here It will be done because this isn't the end and how glorious it will be when we can all come forth perfect. per-fect.
