Show THE COLD WAVE. On the afternoon of the 27th inst. (instant) intelligence reached Logan that a cold wave was sweeping down from the north and would probably be upon us within 24 hours. We had been having a warm, rainy day on the 27th and for several days previous, and similar atmospheric conditions continued until the afternoon of Tuesday, the 28th, when it quite suddenly began to freeze. Shortly after this it began to snow, and more or less hail and fell during the night. Next morning the wind was blowing a gale, and was intensely cold, but by Thursday morning the weather was calm and mild. |
