Show I 1 TANGIBLE TAXPAYERS UNION IS ORGANIZED ZEID the tangible taxpayers union was organized in summit county tuesday evening at the county court house this organization Ls is opposed to the proposed amendments in ants to the constitution to be voted upon in november they favor a uniform and equitable system of taxation that includes both intangible as well as tangible property being particularly against the plan to fix in the constitution a 5 mill maximum on intangibles with a possibility lity of reducing it to an exemption and leave the farmer and tangible property holder to pay the limit which averages 45 mills milis they also find serious objections to the arbitrary powers that are proposed to be centered in a tax commission it was also stressed that there has been concerted effort on the part of the board of equalization to nullify the present law as to the assessment of intangibles which has resulted in a wholesale escape of that class ot of property and likewise the demoralization of the tax system the state |
