Show THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS IIVolume II, Issue X Page 15 15 May 2000 Sports News Powder Mountain Race Team Holds Parent - Child Challenge The Powder Mountain Race Team enjoyed an end of the season celebration on March 25 under sunny skies and plenty of sunshine. The members of the ski team had an opportunity to show mom and dad just how fast they could ski. The racers challenged their parents to a race. Each contestant was allowed two timed giant slalom runs. The times were posted at the bottom of the course so everyone could see just how the others were skiing, and which racers they wanted to beat. Very few parents’ times were better than their child’s times. The parents agreed, it is much harder to perform in the gates than to stand at the bottom and cheer for their racers at the finish line. A lot of the parents asked for advice from the coaches. Most of the coached told the parents to ski fast and have fun; “The kids are going to beat you anyway.” Everyone had a good time, and enjoyed burgers and hot dogs barbecued by the coaches. All of the race team members received a trophy to remember the race and the end of a great season. All the coaches, racers, and parents would like to thank the management at Powder Mountain Resort for all of their help this last ski season.
