It was the 1986 kickoff for the United Way campaign, aimed at raising a record $570,000. Thats 10 percent higher than last years $512,000 raised that far outdistanced the W75.000 goal. Its going to be more of a challenge to meet the goal, this year, notes Davis UW veteran director Larry Burdett. Several major contributors have reduced staff or are moving operations out of the county. Such notables include and Utility Trailer, both experiencing layoffs, while Sperry is moving operations to Salt Lake City. In spite of that, though, nearly five percent was announced as already committed under the Pacesetter program. Lakeview Hospital has raised $2,650 between employees and corporate Eaton-Kenwa- y ntal Health program, Davis County Family Support Center, Human Services, Information and Referral and Pioneer Adult Rehabilitation Center.
