Show BPW Host To District Convention DELEGATES ATTEND FROM SEVEN CLUBS Three State Officers Represented At Successful Conclave Business and Professional Women Wom-en of southeastern Idaho closed a successful district convention in Preston Sunday that attracted delegate dele-gate from somo seven clubs in this area. Approximately 40 women attended at-tended the sessions. New officers elected at the meeting meet-ing included Mrs. Irene Neilsen of Salmon, president; Miss Ellen Bell, Preston, vice president; and Miss Vera Browning, Rexburg, secretary. Tlnee slate officers were present, including Mrs. Izetta McCoy, Twin Falls, state president; Mrs. Laura N. Merrill, Idaho Falls, second vice president; and Bertha Tyce, Twin Falls, corresponding secretary. Opening sessions of, the convention conven-tion in the reception rooms of the courthouse was occupied with busi ness discussions and sectional meetings. At this meeting it was recommended that all clubs affiliate affili-ate with the international organization. organiza-tion. A luncheon program at the Club cafe featured Mrs. Alvin Carlson and the "Charmaids" with musical numbers. Miss Agnes Howell with leadings, an address by. Dr. Allen Cutler on "Cancer Control," and a talk by Supt. P. F. Campbell -on "Japan and her influence in the present crisis." Mrs. Willis Wills was toastmis-tress toastmis-tress at the dinner program, and Mrs. Roberts presided at the election elec-tion which followed. The closing address ad-dress was delivered by Mrs. McCoy Mc-Coy who discussed the stale convention con-vention and .the topic "Women In National Defense." Delegates from Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, Rexburg, Salmon, Twin Fails, Pocatello and Preston were present. |
