Wilson gave jome very interesting and intel lectual lectures on Socialism Tue-da- y and Wednesday evenings to large and appreciative crowds. The lectures were given in the Arlington theatre- The following are the imprest; ions of a few that attended the the lectures. Mr. Wilson is a beautiful lect-jre- r and a very bright and intelligent man. James Belliston. I can say Mr. Wilson is one of the brightest and ablest speakers ( ever listened to. Everything le said was very clear and impressive. The people of Nephi should wake up and be broad enough to at least come out and listen when honored with such a speaker. Mrs. J. E. Cole. I consider Mr. Wilson a very Regular price $2.00 per year. In advance per year. Published weekly, every Frida at Nephi, Utah. Valuable Lessons Learned As To Fruit Ship, ing. Daring this, the first seasoi that Nephi has attempted tc ship fruit in carload lots, somt obstacles have been experienced which should teach some uable lessons. As the learned through years of unceasing toil the lesson that only by an absolutely strict adhermeth-od- s ence to scientific could the desert soil be made to bring forth crops without irrigation, so it is hoped the fruit growers will learn that to make a success of this line he must come to a realization of the fact that by close application and unvarying adherence to the princig will he be ples of able to compete with his northern neighbors who have studied g just as closely as the local farmer has ing. The car of peaches shipped out last week contained largely third grade fruit, and e v e n at this, some difficulty was experienced in getting a f u 1 car in the time given for loading. The first cause of trouble was there was no call for third quality peaches such as Nephi had to one week after the chip was fruit here ready to ship until one week after the fruit here was ready to ship, at which time the local association received an order for a car. By t h i s time many of the best peaches were too ripe to pack and some of the poorer quality of had to be put in to make up the car. This was a great disappointment to the members of the association as they had hoped to bazin to mike a reputation for Nephi fruit with the first shipment Orson Cazier, president of the association, worked day and night to get in the best peaches that were to be had, and if the members work as hard another year it can be ex- -' pected that some mighty fancy fruit will be loaded out A number of young peach orchards are just coming into bearing, and if not injured by will be frost next year enough fruit raised next year to load a score of the the growers see to it There-ifruit is of shipping grade. always a h e a v y demand foi the variety of peaches known a "extra fancy", and if p r o p e i care is taken of the orchards, together with vigorous thinning il the crop shows indications ot being too great for the trees t mature, Nephi can product cars of this desirable first grade, and no trouble will be had in disposing of then and that at "extra fancy' prices loo. What we considet first class peaches here are fully up to the standard of Erighan City or anywhere else; thf trouble is that w don't take ht time and trouble to make all oui peaches of Srst class grade. Preparation should begin no dry-faim-- dry-far- er m fruit-growin- fruit-growin- 1 that until j rs there cars-providi- np that s twenty for shipping twenty carsol ncaches next year. The lessonf of this year should be remember ed. The! t i m e to ship is wher the peaches are "not fit to eat" that is when they are still quit green and hard. The Integrity of our Judges, from Marshall to White and Holmes and to Cullcn and many others In our state Is a fine pars of American history. Hut I say It so bcrly democracy has a right f approach the sanctuary of the crairts when a special Interest has eornij'tlj found sanctuary too, and thla Is exactly what has happened In some of the states where the recall of th Judges la a living Issue.
