Show Tropic mT By Lynn Munson 679-8627 Tropic LDS Ward conference was held in sacrament meeting on Jan. 30. The general authorities, stake presidency, bishopric and ward leaders were sustained by the membership. Sustained to new positions were Cody Brinkerhoff as 10-11 Primary inslructor and John and Laurie Ahlstrom as Cub Scout assistants. Speakers were Eric Syrett, Bishop Scott Barton and President Reed Munson. Special songs were sung by some of the Primary members. Jim and Louise England were in Cedar City for doctors appointment and then went on to Las Vegas to spend the weekend with Darrell and Kaylynn Shakespear and family. Besides visiting other family members, they spent time with Jim's mother Betty England. Lester and Vertis Clarke enjoyed a wonderful visit with all their children in Vernal. They stayed with Diane and Sherrill Lamb and family whose son Stephen reported on his mission to Monterey, Mexico and whose daughter and son-in-law Stephanie and Andrew Merrill had their baby girl blessed. Other family members there were Richard and Judy Clarke and family, Riverton; Wes and Ellen Clarke and children, Tropic; Karen and Merrill Willis and family, Pocatello; Rick and April Evans and children, Macks Inn, Ida.; and Ivan and Lori Clarke and family, Salem. Counting all the grandkids and great-grandkids, there were over 60 family members together for the special events. Lowell and Margaret Mecham spent the first part of the week working in the LDS temple. While in St. George they visited with son Scott, his wife Jennifer and their children. Son Steven and his wife (See TROPIC on page 3-A) TROPIC From Page 2-A Shelly Mecham and their children then spent the weekend in Tropic with their parents. The Pahreah Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers met with Captain Dixie Shakespear presiding. The 12 members present listened to family histories given by Glenna Fletcher, the lesson by LaVera Moss, and had refreshments served by Marian Mecham and June Shakespear. It was a pleasant I afternoon for everyone there. Larvin and Eva Pollock spent the latter part of the week working in the LDS temple. They attended the session with grandson Derrick Pollock, Derrick's parents David and Kathryn Pollock, and other family members. Derrick "Coot" Pollock will marry Laura Pierson of Panguitch on Mar. 10. Craig Bybee and his sons were in Southern Utah on business and stopped for an overnight visit with his parents Clive and Thelma Bybee. Jack Chynoweth returned to the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City last week where he underwent further testing . We pray for a quick recovery and hope he will be able to return home soon. Keela and Laycee Mangum and Iris Bushnell went through the LDS temple with Clayton and Heather Johnson. Clayton is the son of Kim and Jeff Johnson of Henrieville. Tawn Mangum and Shawn Mortensen went to the North Rim of Grand Canyon to pick up some mules recently purchased from Tennessee. Paul and his crew will be opening their trail rides in Zion on Friday. Cami Mangum was in Cedar City to meet with her sisters there as they celebrated with their mother Colleen Engel on her birthday. |
