RESISTING SHOPLIFTER Officer Jared Weech was driving through the Wal-Mart parking lot at 5:30 p.m. Monday night and was flagged down by a citizen who said there was a fight between store employees and a thief two rows over. Officer Of-ficer Weech pulled around to see three employees of Wal-Mart trying to restrain a half-naked shoplifter. Weech quickly handcuffed the 25-year-old Payson man who had been observed by security officers when he stuffed a $6 pair of men's underwear inside his shorts and walked out the door without paying for them. When Jeffrey Alan Kennedy was confronted by store security officers, of-ficers, he refused to accompany them back inside the store and tried to fight his way free of their grasp. Once in custody and back inside the store, the stolen briefs were retrieved from Kennedy's shorts. Jeffrey Kennedy was booked into the Orem holding facility.
