Treat yourself to a unique type of treasure hunt that takes a keen eye and binoculars (bring your own or borrow a pair from us). This program will start with an intro to birding basics & the rules for a successful treasure hunt around the nature preserve. You and your family will have until noon to find up to 25 different bird cutouts hidden among the trees. Prizes awarded to individuals who find and identify 20 of the 25 hidden birds. All ages welcome! This treasure hunt isn’t just for kids. Intro and rules given at 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. in the Discovery Room. Pre-register by Friday, May 14. Mendhi or Henna painting, the practice of safely & temporarily dying the skin in intricate designs with the use of the ground plant henna. Henna is practiced in numerous countries and cultures. Come learn about the practical and decorative purposes of this type of temporary tattoo from Cheyenne Herland, Ogden Nature Center teacher/naturalist and receive a henna design from Janet Gioffre-Harrington, a local artist with 30 years of experience blending and painting with henna.
