Show SOIL MEETING ENDS CURRENT SERIES UNTIL THIS FALL Farmers cannot expect to obtain ti e best results in their farming program unless they follow some si t of a planned crop rotation and ve the best fertilizers to supply the elements needed by the plant for proper growth, pointed out H. W. E. Larson, Idaho soil spe-c'alist, spe-c'alist, at the regular meeting of the Franklin county farmers at the ilrgh school Wednesday. The main elements needed by the plants used by the plants aie nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sulphur, iron, oxygen and hyaro-gen. hyaro-gen. Of these nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus are the most important, im-portant, he stated. These elements can best be supplied sup-plied to the plants by the use of barnyard manure which contains al) these elements in fair amounts. However it was pointed out that manurg that has been exposed to the weather soon loses its food value, val-ue, and for this reason should he hauled to the field and spread every ev-ery few days. The plowing under of green ma-mire ma-mire crops is an excellent way to obtain nitrogen for the plani Due to the heavy farm work ahead it was the opinion of the group that the meetings should be discontinued until next fall when they will again be held. 'The meetings meet-ings have been weir attended this past winter and have been interesting inter-esting and educational. The average av-erage attendance per meeting Is 24 with 14 meetings being held. Mr. Craner desires to take this opportunity op-portunity to thank all those that have helped to make the meetings a success. n . |
