Show Lions Close Successful Inter-city Meeting Franklin And Ogden Win Attendance Awards At Banquet An inter-city convention of Lions' clubs from southern Idaho and northern Utah, honoring the fifth anniversary of the Preston organization, organi-zation, came to a successful conclusion, con-clusion, htre Wednesday evening. Visiting delegates from approximately approxi-mately 23 clubs were welcomed to the city by the Preston high school band, welcoming cards by the Preston Pres-ton Chamber of Commerce and flag-bedecked flag-bedecked streets. A zone meeting started off the convention at 6:30 with Lester D. Lowe of Franklin presiding. Summer Sum-mer activities was the principal topic of discussion among the zone officers. At S o'clock the banquet was hcl.l in the reception rooms of the court -house with Ronald Graves of Twin Falls, a,' district governor, and Am a C. Hatch of Provo, district governor in Ulah, as principal speakers. Wel-don Wel-don Nash, president of the Preston club presided. The Franklin Lions won the award for the best attendance, an.l Ogden captured honors for the most man-miles traveled. Also honored at the meeting were the 13 charter members of the Preston club. They are Harold Hawkes, Wallace Bailey, Jack Anderson, An-derson, R. B. Gibson, W. A. Simmons', Sim-mons', Russell Crockett. Ralph Miller, Mil-ler, Jack MacBeth, Dr. L. V. Merrill, Mer-rill, Frank Foss, Dr.. O. R. Caller, Phenoi Edgley, and Weldon Nash. The convention elosed wita a dance at the Persiana hall. |
