Show From the House of Lords that our school year is in full swing, we are preto meet our problems square in the face. pared Fellow students, what do you want this school year to be? In our school of absolute student government, what use are you making of your citizenship? The faculty and those in authority are putting a great deal of trust in us. They are placing the reins of our government entirely in our hands. Are we going to make good? We cannot possibly do otherwise when the responsibility rests upon us. The officers of course, have the most responsibility, but a certain degree rests upon each and every student. If you do not like the way your government is handled, it is your opportunity and your duty to see to it that it is handled properly But, if, on the other hand , it is being handled the way you would do it yourself, then show the world that you are alive by giving it your hearty support. In some places, California for example, student governments in high schools have been abandoned. Do we want our government taken from us? Of course not; and it will not be, as long as we continue to do as well as we have done in the past. I have learned to put absolute trust in the wisdom and judgment of our student body, and the disapproval of that same body is the worst punishment an offender of our standards can imagine. So let us be loyal to Dixie, to her standards and her student government, first, last and forever. We want school life, yes, pep if you please, and we want only the highest type. We have no room for Bolshevism in our school. Let us be to Dixie what Roosevelt was to America. The various departments of our government speak for themselves. They are organized and going at full speed, driven by the usual supply of Dixie pep and spirit. Be a true citizen of the D. N. C. Frank Crosby, Chief Commissioner. Now |
