There will be a "majority change" of the Farmington City Council this year because of a unique situation which places four of its five council members - as well as the mayor - up for election. HOWEVER, there will not be a primary race for mayor with incumbent Merrill R. Petty Pet-ty opposing Clair M. Seeley. Both will have their names placed on the November ballot. For the 4-year council race, it will be a battle between Walter Wal-ter Bain, Victor T. Corbin, Milo Kirkham and Brent R. Peterson. Candidates for the 2-year 2-year post are Kathryn (Terry) L Benedict, Roger L. Clawson, Richard O. Ellis, Gary C. Flood and Jonathan S. HuRhes. IN NORTH Salt Lake, seven candidates will be vying for two council seats, both 4-year terms. Seeking the primary nomination are incumbent Richard S. Strong, and Dwight L. Adams, Mark R. Craven, Rulon Crosby, Frank L. Hicks Jr., Carlon W. Jacobson and Kent L. Smith. Hughes and Neil Breinholi. Centerville voters will eliminate eli-minate three of five candidates seeking the office of mayor, in- eluding incumbent Golden I.. Allen and incumbent councilman council-man Robert M. Arbuckle. Other mayoral candidates are James R. Elheridge. Steven C. Myers and Neil L. Blackburn. NORMAN R. Wright is not seeking re-election to the council because of health IU GARY R. Woods Cross has an "open end" ballot for its municipal election and names of all candidates can-didates will be placed on the general election ballot in November. "non-partisan.'" the in-fighting among candidates - especially in Bountiful - is expected to run hot and heavy. Bountiful candidates will face two very controversial isvues this fall - proposed redevelopment re-development of a downtown shopping center (mall) and a major revamping of the city's storm drain system. THE LATTER issue has recently re-cently come to light, but certainly cer-tainly will be a major issue in the near future. The proposed downtown mall, however, has been a controversial con-troversial issue for the past few , years -and will continue to be a complex and controversial proposal. BOLNTIFl L voters will be casting their ballots for mayor, 4-year and 2-year council posts. There are four candidates for mayor and voters will cast ballots for only one, but the two top vote-getters will advance adv-ance to the general election on Nov. 3. SEEKING the 4-year mayor's seat will be incumbent Elmer W. Barlow, Dean O. (Gus) Anderson. John O'Hara Jr. and Dean S. Stahle. Four candidates will be chosen to fill two 4-year posts on the council. They are incumbents in-cumbents Phyllis C. South-wick South-wick and Roger R. Winslow along with newcomers George S. Burbidge. J. Dean Hill. Paul E. Porter, Gene R. Smith, De-Monte De-Monte Washburn and E. Curtis Cur-tis Wilbur. THE 2-year council seat will have seven candidates but only the two top vote-getters will compete in the general election for a single post. Candidates Can-didates are H. Keith Barton, Vera B. Edwards. Breck England, Eng-land, Jerry D. Harvey, Richard B. Hill. Melvin J. Pearson and Robert L. Robinson. West Bountiful voters will choose between four candidates candi-dates for mayor and nine candidates can-didates for two 4-year council posts. Seeking re-election for mayor is Grant Secrist along with Brandt A. Child. John Trimming and Rex L. George. INCL MBENTJ. Dew ell w ill head a list of nine candidates for the two 4-year council seats.
