Show Now that the majority of the Democrats at the Chicago Convention Conven-tion have come out and made their declarations in favor of silver and have embodied a silver plank in their platform; also mominated silver men for president, and vice j president, it looks as if they are in earnest and mean to do honor to their country and we sincerely j hope tli3y will. There is one thing that we think ought to be done, and that is, . for all silver men, no matter what their party affiliations to join to- gather and have a great convention and all decide to put up silver men for president and vice president and let all the silver people drop their party feelings and e'eave to the silver men and vote for them at the coming election, so as to j make a grand sweep and shut up evey avenue for any gold-bug to have oven a ghost of a show to turn up the winming card in the end. Wo want the free and inlimited coinage of silver, and a law making mak-ing it a legal tender beside gold at a ration of 16 to 1, but we fear unless un-less thero is a united effort of all the silver men that the gold men will eventually win the day, for i money generally buys alnust anything any-thing and has hither-to bought many a vote. So lot us up and bo doing our duty for our-selves and the country and tho cause of silver! By private letter from Benton, 0:egon, we loarn that their grain crop looks well, but they are very much in neod of rain. By special arrangements wo are enabled to furnish the Rural Northwest North-west and tho Union, both papers for $1.75 per year. |
