Show CONGRESS BEGINS VOTING CASH TO CORPORATIONS The total loss ' of government corporations, which comes out of the taxpayers' pockets, will be $4 billion in the 1947 fiscal year, according to official estimates submitted to congress by the Budget. Bud-get. Until passage some months ago of the Byrd-Butler act, which was urged by American business, Congress Con-gress either provided money in haphazard fashion for government corporations or they obtained funds from the Treasury. The House, which passed the Government Corporations Appropriation Appro-priation bill, was told that the corporations now are being effectively effec-tively brought under Congressional Congression-al control. People usually think of money being paid into the Treasury in the form of taxes or bond purchases, and of money being paid out under un-der appropriations. |
