Show THE THOMAS FLYER in this issue of the mining review our readers will see the page advertisement of the randall dodd auto company of salt lake this firm handles the thomas flyer one of the best autos ever put into desert and mountain service and there are probably more machines of this make in the mining districts of this western country than of any other manufacture during the past two or three years the editor of the mining review has visited many of the mining camps of this intermountain region much of his travel from railroad points has been by automobile As a matter of fact he has had varied experiences perien ces in desert and min mieng ng camp auto mobil ing he has been hung up in mountain and plain by the breaking down of machines by something giving out in a most mysterious manner to rectify which hours have been empol he has missed trains anedas and has been obliged to lay over for twenty four hours because of inability of autos to even make twelve miles in two hours but when riding in a thomas flyer none of these troubles have ever come to him for they always travel along like a thing of life an untiring and powerful racehorse three trips in a thomas flyer were so sat satisfactory as to cause their remembrance to linger long in his mind as being included in the most pleasing auto rides he has experienced perien peri ence ced d one of these was from golconda nevada to the mining comp of gold Cir clea distance of fifty miles ed dame was at the steering wheel and while the car was loaded to its seating capacity the trip was fiade made in something like two hours and a half although the roads were rough in places another similar trip was made from winnemucca Winne mucea to chafey and on this trip the auto went up mountain roads which in looking back upon seemed so steep was almost beyond bell belief ef that an auto could climb them and yet the ascent was made without a halt without the least fear on the part of the occupants of the car that it would be up to them to get out and walk at another time the writer boarded a thomas flyer at rhyolite bound for the new goldcamp gold camp of pioneer the car was yell well filled when the start was made but at beatty several more yvere were added to tle the passenger list and these stood on the running board and hung on to the seats there were eleven in all and yet this machine went along like a bird crossing streams taking muddy boaks like a gull climbing the high grades without a tremor and making the entire distance in little less than an hour in all of his desert and mountain experience peri ence in an auto the writer has never met with a mishap never was delayed five minutes and never missed a train connection when riding in a thomas flyer nor has he ever met with travelers who ever had any complaint to make about this machine chine it is a great auto and notie none better was ever made |
