Show Page The Ogden Valley news Volume XVIII Issue II July 1, 2010 Announcements Military News Flynt L. Bailey has been advanced to 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He has been involved with the launching of the Delta IV GPS SVI satellite that occurred on May 27, 2010 at Cape Canaveral. He is stationed at Los Angeles Air Force Base, and lives in San Pedro. He is the son of Eugene and Ruth Bailey of Liberty. He is married to Kristen Morris. Pictured left is Flynt L. Bailey Returning Missionary Elder Rodrigo David Stabio Sosa, son of Stella and Jose Sosa and big brother to Nicholas of Nordic Valley, will soon complete his honorable service in the Pennsylvania-Philadelphia Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The troop went to every house in the neighborhood, identified GPS coordinates, painted house numbers on the end of the driveways, and installed the signs and posts to signify that the neighborhood was under “Watch.” They also initiated a communication system with alerts and notes from the Weber County Sheriff’s office, plus organized vacation watch patrols for all of the homes. The scouts worked very closely with Lt. Philip Howell and Deputy George Archibeque of the Weber County Sheriff’s office; and gained all of the necessary permits from their office, UDOT, and the County to properly place the Neighborhood Watch signs. They neighbors are now a very close, aware group that enjoys their relationship with the Sheriff’s office. Taylor will celebrate his 90th birthday at an open house on June 26, 2010 at the Huntsville Stake Center in Eden from 5-8 p.m. He was born June 29, 1920 to Charles Franklin and Martha Dewey & Marie May Bowler Taylor Taylor in Colonia Dublan, Chihuahua, Mexico. He married Marie Wahlin June 26, 1941 in the Mesa AZ LDS Temple. Dewey owned and operated an automotive service center in Phoenix for 40 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater, serving most of his time in Okinawa. He was active in the Church of Mikesell - Pantone Jamie Mikesell and Isaac Pantone were united in marriage June 10 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple. A reception was held in their honor at the home of the bride’s parents. The bride is the daughter Isaac and Jamie of David and Jill Mikesell Pantone of Layton. Parents of the bridegroom are Mark and Lisa Pantone of Huntsville. Tia Jensen attended as matron of honor. Michael Pantone performed the duties of best man. The bride graduated from Weber State University with a degree in interventional radiology and works at Intermountain Medical Center. The bridegroom attends WSU and works at Biker’s Edge. The new couple will live in Murray after their honeymoon in Costa Rica. Benstog-Gill Jodi Benstog and Erik Gill were united in marriage on May 29 at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Peter Van Hook. A reception was held in their honor at the Botanical Gardens. Erik and Jodi The bride is the daughter of Paul and Lola Benstog Gill of Ogden. Parents of the bridegroom are Jon and Rhonda Gill of Huntsville. The bride chose Wendy Andrews as her matron of honor. Jennie Pappas and Cydney Pacheco were her bridesmaids. Jon Gill Jr. performed the duties of best man with Jordan Williams and Chris Willard as groomsmen. Both are graduates of Weber High School. She is employed by McKay-Dee Hospital, and he works for the city of North Ogden. The new couple will live in Ogden after their honeymoon to the Oregon coast. Obituaries Mark Willson Mark Alan Willson, 53, returned to his Father in Heaven on Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Mark was born on June 4, 1957 to Donald and Jo Anne Willson in Ogden, Utah. He grew up in West Warren, Utah and attended Weber High School. After Mark Willson high school, he was called to serve in the Minnesota-Minneapolis Mission. Following his mission, he met and married his beloved wife Janet on September 9, 1981. He was an extremely hard worker and owned and operated his own company for many years. In recent years, he worked as a fence estimator, helped maintain the family farm and was a partner in a family trucking business. Mark’s hobby was his children. He was a devoted Father and proud Grandfather. Those that knew and loved him enjoyed his sense of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served humor and his teasing nature. His willingness in many positions, including the YM organiTanner Anderson zation, Scouting, a stake presidency and as a Temple Ordinance Worker. He served as a Tanner Mark Anderson Temple Sealer for 23 years and with Marie passed away peacefully served a mission in the Dallas, TX Temple. Mark is survived by his wife, Janet; his children, Kurt (Danielle) Willson, Marcy (Ryan) Rogers, Karl Willson (Hali Rivera), Kyle Willson, Molly Willson and Melany Willson; his two beautiful granddaughters Kyree Willson and Gabriella Rogers; his parents, Donald and Jo Anne Willson; his brothers’ Scott (Donlee) Willson, Brad (Jami) Willson and his sister, Jennifer (Chris) Bitton; nieces; nephews; cousins and dear friends. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Funeral services were held on June 19, 2010 at the Farr West Poplar Stake Center. Interment will be at the West Warren Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Mark Willson account at any Wells Fargo Bank.
