Show MINING ACTIVITY MUCH IMPROVED IN THISDISTRICT Fred Leonard, of Salt Lake, states to our representative, Mr. D. E. Kirk, that the Moscow mine is now running a drift to to tap the ore, and as soon as that is done, a full crew will be put to work taking out the ore. It is expected that from one to two hundred men will be em- ployed. 4 The Monti eal is now running three shifts and is shipping about 250 tons per day. Ed. Bardsley was in town last week from the Independent Silver. He took back with him a number of miners and a big order of caps, fuse, powder and grub. The Galena is now dn good ore and expects to begin shipping soon. The Empire mine is about to resume re-sume activity. The Horn Silver is putting a number num-ber of new men on. It has produced more real money than any other twine in this part of the state. Abe Fotheringham, at the Sunrise, east of town, is making some pretty good showings. WORK OX RAILROAD BEGUX The active construction work ' on the Lund to Cedar City railroad, was begun last week by the Utah Construction Con-struction company. This is one of the biggest companies compan-ies in the inter-mountain region and that fact guarantees that the work will and can be done in record time, and the time limit set is 90 days. The building of this road will op-in op-in up a large body of land1 between the two towns mentioned, part of which is first class agricultural land, and part very valuable mineral land, rich in iron ore. The development of this largo tract means much to Southern Utah. In addition to the direct railroad building activity, the Union Pacific railroad is building four or five large hotels for the accommodation of tho tourist travel one" at Cedar City, (this one is nearly completed): others are to be at Bryce canyon, Zion National park, the north rim of the Grand canj'on, and at Cedar Breaks. All these improvements will tend to make all kinds of property in Southwestern Utah, especially that tapped and traversed by the new realroadl, increase In value very rapidly. |
