It is obvious all countries should have armies for their protection We have an Air Force Navy and Army As long as we are not in any war as we used to be the Army focuses all its attention on building up Iran Also to doing beneficial things for the country and people The Army is divided into several branches: educational army health army and some oth- ers When a boy gets his degree from high school he serves in the army for 18 months The first 4 months he learns army training and gets acquainted with modem equipment and the use of weapons Then after his training the government will send him to the villages and smal townsl to educate the people Tiese young men realty to do their duty in the best sible way try pos- Besides the educa- tional program the boys will build roads hospitals schools success comes from our Great King Mohamad Reza Shah Javid Iran New addition to English dept Mrs John J (Dorothy) Carver is a new faculty member this year Mrs Carver a native bom Texan received part of her education in Oregon She received an associate degree from CEU and her B S degree from the University of Utah Mrs Carver is a resident of Dragc’rton Her husband John is an industrial engineer with Kaiser Steel and is presently on assignment in California They are the parents of four children Their only daughter is married to a Mr English a starter for the University of Utah basketball team Mrs Englsh s a Jun-oi- r at the U The Carver's oldest son is also a student at the U They have two sons attending school at East Carbon schools Second son is a senior at East Carbon High and their youngest is in the fourth grade The Carvers have lived in Dragerton for the past fifteen years Mrs Carver is an active Republican and has always been interested in civic affairs and the Federation of Women’s Clubs She is especially enjoying her first teaching experience here at CEU She expressed a great deal of satisfaction upon receiving her degree after being a housewife for quite a few years She also expressed her pride in her family for the many ways they have helped and supported her in her educational endeavors The College of Eastern Utah is fortunate to have a woman of Mrs Carver’s capabilities on the faculty Campus Republicans After getting off to a slow start Campus Republican pul its program for the coming year Into full swing The Republicans are now helping in the campaign of Richard Nixon and others in the Republican party Officers were elected in a recent meeting Jed McKean became the new president Jeff Heath was put in as Vice President and Ed Gillins was selected as Secretary Pat McKcndrick and Ricky Gilbert were chosen as representative and historian in that order Mac McLean was put in charge of the campaign for the coming election This includes the distributing of literature such as bumper stickers The young Republicans plan to have speakers from state government departments come nnd speak to the students about government affairs Campus Republicans gives a student an opportunity to become more involved in political affairs The group enables a person to Icam more about the government and the different wavs in which it functions Students are Invited to
