Show mrs VERMON VERNON isobelle pendleton miss judith bennion after 32 years of service as clerk and postmistress retired last saturday and turned over her work to ted for the seventy five years vernon has had a post office from 1872 when john C sharp was app pointed the first postmaster until now matilda Benn bennion ions s family has taken care of the mail nearly two thirds of that time mrs bennion began in 1900 when she acted as clerk for her father eric J pehrson when he moved away his sister judith took the office they have served the public well being always wil ling to accommodate any who came after hours for mail ted has bu it a small ce ment block build ng just north of his store this is vernon new post office ambrose green is nearing the completion of the remodeling of his home for over a month now he has used all his spare time tp to build three add tons t ons to his house one on the southeast corner one on the nor northeast theart corner and one on the northwest mr and mi mrs mis s walter durrant and son robert returned saturday from their vacation trip to the north they visited yellowstone park first then spent the rest of the time see ing old friends and relatives in idaho they stopped on the way home to visit mr and mrs ferron chase and family who formerly lived in vernon mrs thelma gillespie and mara ian green of wells nevada spent friday night with mr and mrs ambrose green when they return ed they took with them dallas H K and montie blame blaine gillespie sons of mrs gillespie who have been staying for two weeks with their grandparents mr and mrs D D kelly of salt lake city spent the weekend with mr and mrs edwin anderson mr kelly returned sunday but mrs kelly with her two sons remain ed for the rest of the summer mr and mrs lamar dalton are visiting for ten days at the home of mr and mrs lawrence sharp during the summer school recess at the U of U miss barbara hulme left last wednesday for her home in le hi after visiting with her cousin emmalou emma bou pehrson for two weeks master brent nielson son of ot mr and mrs earl nielson of tooele thoele spent last week at the home of mr and mrs alma nielson buster john and jay castagno are staying on their father s ranch for the rest of the summer vaca tion sunday visitors of mr and mrs calvin oison olson were mr and mrs leo stephens and baby of salt lake city Ken kenneth neti Fr earickson vas home for the weekend |
