THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Volume IV, Issue V June 15, 2001 Valley Resident Selected as Valedictorian On June 8 Pete Rasmussen, son of Mark and Marsha Rasmussen of Eden, graduated from Port Townsend High School in Port Townsend, Washington. The Rasmussens moved to Eden from Port Townsend during Pete’s sophomore year. He completed his junior year at Weber High School where he was an honor student, president of the French Club, and a member of the varsity basketball team. Pete returned to Port Townsend for his senior year where he graduated with a 4.0 GPA, was selected as a member of the National Honor Society, played varsity basketball at the state tournament level, and was chosen as a valedictorian for his graduating class of 2001. Pete has been accepted to the University of California at Santa Cruz where he plans to pursue a life long dream of studying Marine Biology. Pete will spend the summer in Eden before attending school in California this fall. The following sixth grade students from Valley Elementary were recently honored for their academic achievement, citizenship, and penmanship displayed throughout the 2000 – 2001 school year. Students in Ms. Davis’ Social Studies class accepted the challenge and received an ice cream sundae for their efforts. Sixth Grade Students Earn Awards “I just can’t remember those teeny, tiny states in the east sometimes,” says 4th grader Ashley Rolling. Don’t feel too bad—it’s hard!
