This year we will be honored to have Max Rose, Academic Vice President, Dixie College serve as Master of Ceremonies for the Awards Program at 7:00 p.m. sf Prior to the Awards program beginning at 5:00 p.m., a banquet will be held to honor the Southwest Utah Sterlins Tiffany Asay - Milford Family, Consumer & Health Science hs. Cheryl Bar. ee Scholar Finalists and their parents and/or guardians. The Master Mathematics - Milford High School of Ceremonies for the banquet will be Ed Rogers, Director of School Relations at Dixie College. Randy W. Wilkinson, President, Wilkinson Electric, Inc. and Ace mechanical Contractors in St. George, Utah will be the guest speaker at the banquet. Students selected as finalists involved in final competition are from the following high schools: Beaver, Cedar, Canyon View, Dixie, Valley, Enterprise, Hurricane, Kanab, Milford, Panguitch, Escalante, Bryce Valley, Parowan, Snow Canyon, and Pine View. The fourteen categories of the competition include the Gray following: English, Speech/Drama, Mathematics, Social Science, Science, Foreign Language, Applied Technology, Agriculture Science, Family, Consumer and Health Sciences, Business and = Marketing, Music, Visual Arts, Dance,.and General: Lacey Yardley Music - Beaver High School holarship. Starla Nelson Foreign Language - Beaver Each of the 166 finalists will be judged on personal achievements and awards compiled in their portfolios and interviews with the judges. The finalists will be judged on their scholarship, up to 50%, leadership, up to 25%, and citizenship, up to 25%. There will be three judges in each category. These judges are from local communities, Dixie College, and Southern Utah University. A winner and two runners-up in each of the fourteen categories will be announced at the evening program, and each will be given a Sterling Scholar pin. Finalists from each high school will receive an embossed Sterling Scholar Certificate. Colleges and Universities in Utah are offering full tuition scholarships to winners, and many are offering part tuition scholarships to runners-up.
