Show Extension provides youth programs by Heidi LeBlanc 14-1- Developing healthy habits as a youth can help adults stay fit and active. Today kids are faced with many issues that can help them choose to be' a healthy well rounded individual or that can be detrimental to physical, emotional and spiritual well being. San Juan County Extension is starting up some healthy choices programs called: Kids On The Run, Health Rocks and Go Girl Go in March. Kids On The Run is a program that is for boys and girls. It teaches the importance of healthy eatnon-competit- ve ing habits, self esteem en- hancement activities and running games. This year the program is free. It starts March 10 at Monticello Elementary School. If you are interested in this program and do not live in Monticello, call 587-323- or 9 678-220- 1 young adults years who would like to help be a leader ext. 173 7 for their area. Go Girl Go is a unique edu- cation that program utilizes Go Girl characters and champion athletes to edu- cate girls about health risk behaviors and life lessons such as body image, bullying, diversity, smoking, drugs and stress. The program features true-lifstories. This program is free and will be first implemented in Monticello. This is a program that teaches the importance of a balanced life. Hospital officials state that they will be honored to display photographs of the sendee men and women. Photos can be given to Zelpha Nielson or left at the hospital with the name of the soldier and what branch of service they are in. Courtesy photo Monticello High presents Little Women The Monticello High School Samantha Harris round out drama department is finishing final dress rehearsals prior to their presentation, on February 19 and 20, of Louisa May Alcotts loved story of the cast. The play is directed by Patti Husted and assisted by Hanna Porter. Jeremy and Justin Tibbs have spent hours creating just the right light effects. Costumes have been created by Robin Ramsay and Lois Little Women. The Little Women consist of four sisters: Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy, played respectively by LoyRetta Crane, Leisl Jack, Jade Argyle and Kayla Ramsay.
