Mayor - Erick Rosenvall; Executive Council - Cami Carlisle, Jacob Johnson, and Connie West. Marissa Pickett will serve as Recorder, and Kharissa Allred will serve as Public Relations Manager. Other members of the GYCC in attendance: Caleb Johnson, Spencer Agren, and Caden Burrell. The council members whittled away at huge pumpkins donated by Beck Farms and turned them into Jack olanterns and shared pizza and plans for the upcoming year. Mayor Rosenvall informed the group of the things that the Gunnison Youth City Council does and explained that it is a leadership training and service organization. The next upcoming event will be the Halloween Carnival at the Gunnison Valley Elementary School where the members of Elder Sam Judd sends his greetings from Port Elizabeth, located on the bottom tip of South Africa. After serving among some the poorest and the richest, Elder Judd wants everyone to know God loves all his children. The secret to solve all of the world’s woes is to ‘Be kind, be honest and do work.’ Elder Judd is the son of Robert and Cindy Judd of Gunnison. Councilman Jacob Johnson volunteered to put together a Facebook page for the council and Mayor Rosenvall, the council and the membership all agreed that they would like to attend the Youth City Council Day at the State Legislature in January 2010. There was also a lot of interest in the leadership training camp at Utah State University in March. Gunnison City would like to encourage all high school age students in the valley to join the Gunnison Youth City Council. It is a great organization where you can learn, grow and serve. Anyone interested in joining, please contact Mayor Erick Rosenvall or a member of the executive council or Councilwoman Lori Nay at Gunnison City. My name is Payton Sorensen and I am working on my Eagle Scout project. The project I am doing is called Kid Safe ID, and will supply all elementary students with an ID card, fingerprints and DNA samples. I have sent home permission slips and child information forms with all elementary students and they need to be returned by Friday October 30. If I don’t get a permission slip back your child will not receive a free kit. I will be at the elementary school on Friday November 6, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. and also on Monday November 9, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. to take all of the kid’s fingerprints and set up the ID cards. The kits are free to students and have been paid for with a grant from Centerfield and money donated from the surrounding cities.
