Several Scouts from the four Nephi troops completed for the Soil and Moisture Conservation merit badge by building brush and rock dams in a gully above the Mill er Canyon flood water retard ing structure east of Nephi. These Scouts received basic Instruction on this and other merit badges, at a school held at Brigham Young University a few weeks ago. About 70 Scouts from the Juab District attended the school and received merit badge instructions. In the case of the Soil and merit Conservation Water badge, this instruction enabled them to pass all requirements except the field activities. The required field work was accomplished by a tree planting project, sponsored by the Club and the Forest Service, and the construction of the brush and rock dams, installed under the direction of the Soil Conservation Service. On this project, the Scouts learned proper methods of construction of erosion control dams with materials found on the site. These structures, properly constructed and located, will do much to reduce erosion and prolong the life to the flood-wat- Mrs. Maylon Bowers Installed as Head of Ray's Cafe Scene of Legion Auxiliary Unit Mrs. Morgan Lunt and Mrs. Ross Koford were hostesses at Rays Cafe for the Lady Lions n Thursday evening. After a short business session conducted by Mrs. Merle White, president, the time was turned over to Mrs. Lawrence Froisland who took the ladies through a fascinating tour of Norway, thrugh the use of glides and discussion. The films were taken by Mr. and Mrs. Froisland while on missions to Norway. Enjoying the evening were Mrs. Neldon Hanson, Mrs. Ru-lo- n Broadhead, Mrs. Merle H. White, Mrs. E. C.
