Show REVOLT Or CONVICTS. Thirteen Desperate Prieor.ers 'Escape From California Penitentiary. . Thirteen desperate prisoners confined con-fined in the state prison of California, at Folsom, made a break at the breakfast break-fast hour Monday morning. They seized Warden Wilkinson, his grandson, grand-son, Harry Wilkinson, Captain of the Guard R. J. Murphy and several other officers and guards, and, using them as a. shield against the fire of the Gat-tlings Gat-tlings guns, proceeded to the armory post, overcame a guard who'sou&fct to stay them, , armed themselves with rifles and pistols and escaped aoross the prison ranch into Eldorado county. A desperate fight took place in ;he captain's office, where the prisoners made their break. The Alabaster cave is situated near this mountain and -it is believed that the convicts will take refuge therein. The fact that t prisoners have exchanged ex-changed their garb for that of the officers of-ficers will make it doubly difficult to secure their capture. |
